Peter Arnett
Born November 13, 1934, in Riverton, New Zealand.
Arnett worked for National Geographic magazine, and later for various television networks, most notably CNN and in between spent most of his time with the Associated Press. But his major acomplishments include his coverage of war, including the Vietnam War and the Gulf War. In Vietnam is where he was awarded the 1966 Pulitzer Prize under International Reporting, and in the Gulf War Arnett was able to have a contriversal interview with Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein. Winning a television Emmy award. In 1994, Arnett wrote one of his more famous writings, Live from the Battlefield: From Vietnam to Baghdad, 35 Years in the World's War Zones. And In March 1997,.The Journalism School at the Southern Institute of Technology is named after him.
Over the years, Arnett has received 57 major journalism awards and also honorary doctorate degrees from universities in the United States and Brazil. In the Queen's honors of 2006, Arnett was named an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for his services to journalism.
